Malaysia - Langkawi

from €1449 per person
Langkawi is a holiday destination all on its own made up of 99 islands on Malaysia's west coast. Surrounded by turquoise sea, the interior of the main island is a mixture of picturesque paddy fields and jungle-clad hills. Nature-lovers will find the island just as agreeable as the shoreline is fringed by powder-fine sand and swaying coconut trees.

The island is especially recognised for its excellent diving opportunities and this tropical gem hides a treasure trove of other exciting holiday opportunities. From the expansive Underwater World Langkawi along Pantai Cenang to the soaring Cable Car in Pantai Kok, Langkawi is an electrifying locale that keeps visitors coming back for more.

You'll pass small villages with wooden houses framed by palm trees, and children pedalling their old bicycles on errands. Aside from experiencing the local lifestyle, there is no shortage of things to do in Langkawi. Head up the thrilling new cable car to the summit of Mount Mat Cincang - Langkawi's second highest mountain - for an unrivalled view of the entire main island and beyond.

Orlagh Hogan The Westin Langkawi Resort & Spa is situated on private beachfront , providing the perfect balance of the joys of nature and the spoils of opulence. With shopping malls in the vicinity and the jetty just a stone's throw away is the closest I can think to being a perfect destination.

  • Getting around Langkawi isn't as convenient as it could be. There are no public buses, so tourists are left with taxis and hotel shuttles.
  • Hawker food is something no visitor should miss. This is because not only do they serve a variety of authentic local dishes, but, prices are also very reasonable.

  • Langkawi is popular year-round, and there are two distinct seasons. The monsoon season rolls in from May to October, during which time rain falls consistently, but rarely enough to ruin a day's activities. The weather generally dries up for a month or so during July or August
  • Langkawi offers perfect sailing conditions for a sunset cruise or a day of island-hopping. - See more at: http://magazine.fourseasons.com/travel-food-style/things-to-do/experiences/beach-vacation-in-langkawi#sthash.1HPE64dt.dpuf
