    The bright and breezy Archipelago restaurant serves the freshest seafood in a laid-back, funky setting. Rumoured to make the best chips in Zanzibar, this restaurant also offers dishes such as Swahili prawns in coconut masala, grilled kingfish with mango salsa or snapper in orange and ginger sauce.     This waterfront restaurant is attractively decorated with African masks and Swahili curios, and the breezy veranda is perfect for dining.     The trendy Livingstone Beach Restaurant, with its candle-lit tables set on the beach and background tropical tunes, is a great place to try some authentic Zanzibar cuisine. The menu offers exotic temptations such as spring rolls with mango, coriander and yogurt salsa, or a selection of seafood with local spices, mango and cilantro sauces and coconut milk.     Boasting a lively beachfront location and an eclectic menu, Mercury's is a very trendy Zanzibar restaurant. The menu offers a vast and varied selection of café-style cuisine including tacos, pasta, pizza and fajitas. The red snapper in green curry and the grilled tuna with pesto mayo are particularly good.   • Green Garden Restaurant

    Pizzeria / Mkunazini Street, Stone Town

    The Green Garden Restaurant is one of Stone Town's most popular, and it's easy to see why. The small eatery offers good food for reasonable prices in a peaceful garden setting. Their pizza and pasta are popular with expats, as are the free wireless internet and the massage chair in the bar. Green Garden is a great place to relax and have a cup of coffee in the southern part of town.

  • Lazuli

    Local / Shangani district (off Kenyatta Road), Stone Town

    A tiny restaurant in Stone Town, Lazuli is popular with tourists in Zanzibar for its delicately-spiced seafood and excellent smoothies. Open for lunch and dinner, the service is friendly and the atmosphere relaxing. They also serve brunch from 11am, and with a tantalizing menu including mango vanilla cream pancakes, cinnamon coffees and iced coffee shakes.
