The best water parks in Dubai
There is so much more to Dubai than luxury shopping centres, ultramodern architecture and a lively nightlife scene. Dubai is home to some of the best water parks in the world, which attract visitors from all over the globe. From thrilling rides to idyllic beaches, lazy rivers and play areas for the little ones, the city’s water parks are the ideal setting to enjoy Dubai’s stunning weather. Our travel expert Sarah loves visiting water parks. In this blog she tells us what her favourite water parks in Dubai are.
Situated in Atlantis The Palm Resort, Aquaventure is the largest water park in Dubai. Boasting some of the most adrenaline pumping water rides in the world, this park was heaven for a self-confessed adrenaline junkie like me! Guests cannot miss the centre piece of the park, the Ziggurat, which features seven water slides, including the heart-pumping ride, Leap of Faith. This exhilarating water slide has a 27.5 metre near-vertical drop that pushes guests through a clear acrylic tunnel in a shark-filled lagoon. Definitely not for the faint hearted!
The Aquaventure has more than just record breaking rides, you can also kick back and relax on the fabulous private beach or do as we did and spend the day in one of the exclusive seating areas.
Cool down and get away from the city at Dreamland waterpark. Dreamland is one of the first water parks in the UAE and is still one of the most visited waterparks in Dubai today. This park is perfect for groups of friends or couples who like to enjoy a mix of relaxation and excitement.
I absolutely loved the swim-up pool bar and was surprised by how reasonably priced the cocktails were. Have a laugh with your friends as you jump into a huge circular raft that flies down the waterslide. Dreamland is one of the largest water parks in Dubai so make sure you give yourself enough time to explore it all.
Set in Jumeirah, Wild Wadi boasts 30 rides and attractions for all the family. The Wild Wadi outdoor water park is themed around the tale of Juha, a famous character from the Arabian folklore. I was amazed by the imaginative structures in this park. The friendly staff and good facilities made the experience all the more enjoyable.
Wild Wadi has a great range of rides to suit all ages and sizes including Tantrum Alley, Bruj Surj and Jumeirah Sceira. The Jumeirah Sceira is a 120m slide that sees riders hit high speeds after being dropped through a trap door. Those who are looking for more family friendly amusements enjoy can the high waves of Flood River, a surfing experience at the surf pool or float along the long, lazy river of Juha’s Journey.
The Beach at Jumeriah Beach Residence
Located at the entertainment hub on the Dubai Marina, opposite Jumeirah Beach Residence, The Beach Water Park is an inflatable obstacle course that features slides, trampolines and climbing walls that float on the water. This is a great place for kids and if you do bring them along, I advise taking them to the Splash Pad which features smaller inflatables.
Make sure you don’t rush off too quickly after your time in the water as there is plenty of entertainment around The Beach in the evening. Dry off and choose from one of the many restaurants along the promenade to finish a great day out with the kids. I recommend ‘Catch 22’ – a fun and colourful seafood restaurant which is family friendly and affordable.
