Expert travel tips for Caribbean holidays
Jackie is an avid fan of Caribbean holidays – the awe-inspiring sights, spell-binding views, friendly locals and fascinating culture won her over years ago. With so many gorgeous destinations to choose from, it can sometimes be a little tricky knowing which one is right for you. Here she offers advice about how to make the most of your Caribbean holiday.
When to go
It’s important to consider weather and costs when you’re booking your Caribbean getaway. Peak season runs from December through until April, when the weather is dry and pleasant without being overbearingly hot. I’d recommend booking Caribbean holidays in May if you can. The weather is still lovely, but you avoid forking out for food and activities. Win-win!
Where to go
Don’t be tricked into thinking that the dozens of islands scattered across the Caribbean are the same. While all boast idyllic scenery, golden sands and fantastic weather, it’s important to consider the differences between each and what they offer holiday-makers. Fancy soaking up authentic Caribbean culture? Head to Cuba. After a relaxing getaway that also has plenty of adventure activities for the kids? Choose the Bahamas. Maybe your idea of heaven is days spent exploring ancient Mayan ruins? Then jet off to mystical Mexico. Take time to research your various options and think about which Caribbean destinations best suits your needs.
Consider a cruise
Cruise holidays are becoming increasingly popular year on year, and for good reason. There are multiple perks to choosing a cruise for your next getaway – primarily that they are exceptional value for money and allow you to experience several dream destinations in one incredible trip. The Caribbean is the perfect place to pop your cruise cherry. You can easily fit in half-a-dozen islands in a week, which would be fairly impossible, and extremely expensive, to do on your own. Cruising is also an incredible way to see the diversities that exist in this breath-taking part of the world.
Dotted with world-class resorts, the Caribbean islands are ideal when you want to escape real life and enjoy celebrity treatment for a week or two. It’s no wonder so many honeymooners are adamant they want the lazy hazy Caribbean experience. Resorts like Dreams, Couples and Secrets are some of the finest in the world and home to impeccable facilities. Going all-inclusive adds to the feeling of indulgence and relaxation – you never have to worry about going over budget because everything is already paid for. Throw a few cocktails and spa treatments into the mix and you’ve got yourself a dream getaway!
There’s a lot to be said for Caribbean holidays – glorious sunshine, vibrant culture, spell-binding views and relaxing vibes. Are you convinced yet?
