Year after year, Thailand attracts holidaymakers, honeymooners and backpackers who flock to the country for its fabulous food, great shopping and crazy nightlife. However, the main draw for tourists to Thailand continues to stay the same – the fabulous beaches. Our Travelmood travel expert Tracy, a self-confessed beach bum, is a regular visitor to this part of the world. Read on as she lists the best beaches in Thailand.
If you’re staying in Koh Samui then a visit to Mae Nam beach is a must. Laidback and tranquil, you can look forward to doing not much but relaxing on these sands. This beach is a firm favourite of ex-pats so don’t be disappointed if you’re expecting authentic locals.
One of Krabi’s most photogenic beaches, Phra Nang’s picturesque surroundings are a major draw for the crowds. Although it is only a short walk from Railay, why not rent a Kayak and travel there by water? Expect a busy beach but perfect views.
Phi Phi Don
The one that everyone wants to visit – Phi Phi Don in Koh Phi Phi was made famous by the movie, ‘The Beach’. Is it worth the trip? Absolutely. The beach itself is stunning and the waters are always warm and welcoming. It’s also a great place to meet other tourists and backpackers.
Slightly harder to get to than other beaches, Mai Khao in Phuket certainly does not disappoint. With seven miles of clean, white sands, you can look forward to a quiet beach with little or no tourists.
This lively beach in Koh Pha Ngan is the site for the famous monthly ‘Full Moon Party’. This beach is busy, with shops, restaurants and hotels all lining the shorefront. If you’re looking to be immersed in the action then this is the one for you.
