Here are some of the most frequently asked questions that our wedding co-ordinators have answered, however if you have any other questions please don't hesitate to call us on 01 4331040.
Q - Can we be married abroad if one of us holds a non-Irish passport?
A - Yes, however there are some exceptions, so please call our wedding co-ordinators to discuss further details.
Q - How many weddings take place a day?
A - This will vary from destination and hotel, from one every hour to one per day, or just 2 or 3 per week
Q - Can the time of the wedding be confirmed before we depart Ireland?
A - In most cases the time of the wedding will be confirmed in resort, however your request will be noted. We recommend mid morning or late afternoon weddings to avoid the intense heat of the day.
Q - How do we transport our wedding outfits on the flight?
A - We have been advised by airlines that wedding outfits should be packed in "hard" suitcases and they will be place in the hold of the aircraft. You may wish to contact your relevant airline for further information. Generally there is no extra baggage allowance for wedding outfits. Once in resort most hotels will have a dry cleaning/pressing service available to iron out any creases.
Q - Can we choose where our wedding ceremony will take place?
A - Unless otherwise stated your wedding ceremony will take place within the grounds of your chosen hotel. Some hotels have a choice of locations within their grounds, whilst others have designated areas specifically designed for wedding ceremonies. The wedding co-ordinator will clarify the location at your pre-wedding consultation.
Q - What happens if I do not return with my original marriage certificate?
A - In some destinations, particularly Jamaica, Mexico, Sri Lanka and Thailand, it is usual for overseas authorities to complete paperwork after the wedding has taken place. Generally your original wedding certificate will be sent to you within 3 months.
Q - Will our marriage be legally recognised in Ireland?
A - Yes, weddings in all of our destinations will be legal in Ireland
Q - What will happen once we arrive in resort?
A - You will be met by a wedding co-ordinator who will be appointed by either Travelmood or the hotel you are staying at. They will discuss all details of the wedding, any optional wedding additions, the location and any other last minute preparations.
Q - Will it be necessary for us to complete paperwork at our destination?
A - Yes, it will be necessary for paperwork to be completed by you both which may be carried out away from the hotel. The time given to this procedure will depend on your destination and yoru individual circumstances; it will often take half a day. You may have to, in some cases, make your own arragements by taxi to the relevant office which would be payable locally.
