My favourite destination that I’ve visited in the last few years would have to be Thailand. I tailor-made my package which started with three nights in Bangkok where I visited the Grand Palace, the floating markets and also indulged in some serious shopping. From Bangkok I took a flight up to Northern Thailand where I spent 3 nights and did elephant trekking (definitely one of the highlights of my trip!). From Northern Thailand I took a flight down to Phuket for some beach time where I spent 10 nights. Phuket is known for having some of the best beaches and also if you stay near the area of Patong you will be in one of the best areas on the Island for nightlife and shopping. While I was in Phuket I visited some of the other islands like Phi Phi or James Bond Island (yes one of the James bond Films was made out there but don’t ask me which one).

Thailand is suited to all age groups and type of holidaymaker from groups of students, honeymooners or Families, there really is something for everyone!

My holiday in Tanzania in Feb 2008 is one I will always remember. It’s one of the best destinations in East Africa for game viewing and whilst there, I did a safari in the Serengiti and Ngorongoro Crater. Ngorongoro is a collapsed volcano that has an abundance of wildlife. It’s like a zoo!! While staying at our camp, two elephants roamed on site to have a look around. A sight, I will always remember!! On our game view through the Ngorongoro crater, two Lions and one lioness actually walked between our jeep and the one in front of us. I was amazed at how close they came up they truly are amazing creatures. Tanzania is definitely a must see for safari! You’ll not be disappointed and I will definitely go back one day.

My favorite experience in Australia had to have been on the Coral Coast, one of Australia's natural assets with a multitude of marine life, turquoise waters and dazzling white beaches. While there, I went on a whale shark snorkel adventure on the reef. Apart from the thrill of swimming with the world's largest fish (and a shark technically speaking!) There is an amazing mixture of reef life such as manta rays, turtles, dolphins, whales and even dugongs. It doesn’t all have to be roughing it in the outback, as the Newly opened Novotell in Exmouth is great value and drinking vino on your balcony over the sea is not too be missed!

For a really relaxing holiday consider Dreams La Romana in the Dominican Republic. I took a break there in June for 10 nights with my partner and loved every minute of it! The beaches are sandy white and the seas blue. Everyone from the bell man to the entertainment staff made us feel truly at home and as the holiday is all inclusive; you don’t spend a penny when you’re there! So if it’s flaking on the beach, boating, snorkelling or a salsa class you’re after this holiday will have something for everyone! As a tip – upgrade to the proffered club room – it’s not much more expensive and you have access to an exclusive pool and private bar!

Cuba is a fascinating place to visit especially now while still under Castro Rule. From 1950’s cars to old architecture and jazz played on the streets at night it really has something for everyone. I travelled in June 2009 and had an amazing trip. We spent time in Havana where there is so much to see and do. The best introduction to Havana is to take a private guided tour around the city. A local will take you part driving and part walking through the city and give you taste of what to see and give you an insight into life in Cuba which is really interesting. It’s a beautiful city with so many old squares and lovely buildings. A visit to the Capitol Building is a must and also the Revolution museum. The cigar factory is also worth a visit where you see the making of cigars and sip a Mojito on a roof top bar with views of the city where Hemingway visited. Have dinner out in the open air in one of the many old squares and listen to the sound of jazz coming from every street corner. Finish your trip off by a relaxing stay in the beach area of Varadero.

For a family friendly holiday consider Beaches Negril in Jamaica. I travelled there in June 2009 with my sister and 2 year old nephew. The resort is set on 7 mile beach, an absolutely beautiful sandy beach with crystal clear warm water. The best bit was the service we received- the staff were so friendly and they all knew my nephew by name. You could completely chill out or join in any of the of activities available as part of the all inclusive. A bonus for children is that they have the Sesame Street characters around the resort. It was great to see my nephews’ face light up when he met Elmo and friends. We saw some amazing sunsets and came back truly relaxed.

I went to Barbados last December; a good time to get away from the winter blues as the weather was fantastic. I stayed in the alomnd casuraina, a really nice hotel, in a beautiful ocean view room. St Lawrence Gap is only a 25 min walk form the hotel about 5 minutes in a taxi. St Lawrence gap is where you’ll have your choice of a wide selection of bars and restaurants. On the east coast, you can try out a range of water sports. If you like surfing the waves are great while kite and water surfing are also very popular. Bridgetown is a good place to shop and get a good feel for the atmosphere of Barbados. On the west coast you have fantastic ocean to swim in and with crystal clear waters ideal for snorkeling and diving. A trip on the jolly rodger boat is a must.

South Africa is my favourite destination because it has something for everyone. From shopping in the magnificent waterfront of Cape Town or an authentic meal in Mama Africas restaurant (where you can taste all dishes from crocodile to buffalo) to a boat trip to see Nelson Mandela’s old prison cell on Robyn island or a cable ride up table mountain there’s so much to do! In addition, no trip would not be complete without stopping in the amazing winelands and a couple of nights on safari where you can view the BIG 5 up close.

As a way to unwind after all this travelling, I’d recommend Mauritius for some quiet relaxation in the Indian ocean. Staying in 5 star accommodation and spending our days relaxing on the beautiful white sandy beaches was the perfect end to the perfect holiday.

Tassie, being Australia’s smallest state and separated from the mainland is often overlooked by visitors to Oz. I’m delighted that I didn’t overlook this unspoiled and unique place. I really enjoyed the relaxed island lifestyle of Tasmania with its stunning views and friendly welcoming locals!

Tasmania is steeped in heritage and one of the highlights for me was my visit to the Port Arthur historic site. This is where Irish criminals were sent in olden times and the rich history of Tasmania’s convict past lies. As soon as you’ve stepped inside you are transported back in time into another world. I took walking tours around the historic buildings, ruins, gardens and sites and a harbour cruise to the eerie “Isle of the dead”. I listened to spine chilling stories and took part in interactive experiences. Tasmania is one of the most fascinating places I have ever visited.

One of the most amazing and memorable experiences I have ever encountered was when I travelled around Thailand in 2008. Thailand is one of the most beautiful countries I have ever seen - the food is incredible, the views and scenery are outstanding and the service received was exquisite. We started our trip in Bangkok, a city not to be missed! There is so much to see and do. Visit the Grand Palace and the Temple of the Emerald Buddha, take a trip down the floating market and don’t forget to visit the nightlife in the Patpong district. I would also recommend a visit to the night market where you can barter with the locals and pick up some bargains!

After Bangkok we flew down to Phuket and stayed a few nights in the Katathani Resort which is located directly on the beach in a quiet area but only 15 mins in a taxi from the busy Patong area. Phuket offers a large range of excursions, so you will never get bored. Anyone travelling to Phuket must visit the lovely Phi Phi Islands. These islands are home to the most beautiful secluded beaches in the world and is where “The Beach” was filmed.

Lastly we flew to Kou Samui which was my favourite part of the trip. Kou Samui is a stunning small island with many spectacular waterfalls and incredible scenery. We stayed in the busy Chaweng Beach area which has many shops, restaurants, bars, nightlife and not forgetting its world famous beach parties under the full moon. Many of the restaurants are located directly on the beach, allowing you to enjoy your meal under the stars. Thailand is a holiday that will not be forgotten!!

I have recently returned from an incredible holiday in ST Lucia where I was lucky enough to enjoy my first Sandals experience getting to sample a taste of all 3 properties in ST Lucia. The holiday was amazing from start to finish as we were upgraded to BA Club World flights which was an experience on its own!

The island of St Lucia is a small, lush topical volcanic island which has something to offer for everyone. Casties is the main port where the local market and shops are not to be missed. There are also walk and cycling trails and natural beauty spots on the island such as the fascinating Soufriere volcano with its bubbling sulfur springs.

The island of Martinique can be reached by a 90 minute boat ride. We stayed in Sandals Regency La Toc which was a gorgeous hotel located on the beach close to the shops and Castries where we were lucky enough to experience the exclusive Butler service and Red Lane Spa. We also got to sample the facilities of the smaller more intimate Halycon Beach and also my favourite hotel Grande ST Lucian, home of the famous Rondaval Suite. All of these properties were amazing! Everything from food, facilities and service made this holiday an experience that I will never forget!
