Introduction
Known as the 'Garden Isle', Kauai is covered in lush vegetation, waterfalls and rich green forests. The oldest of the Hawaiian Islands, the beaches are relatively unspoiled, and blessed with dry and sunny weather. There’s lots to do here - sporty types can go hiking in the forest, mountain-bike down Waimea Canyon or go snorkelling in clear waters. Top sights include the dramatic Wailua Falls, the Kauai Museum and Fern Grotto.
