Introduction
A beautiful peninsula between two seas, the Mar Menor (meaning little sea) and the Mediterranean, the La Manga peninsula in the Costa Calida is the ideal paradise to escape and unwind. The Costa Calida is made up of picturesque fishing villages, magnificent cliffs, energetic ports and extensive water sports and the resort has something unique in store for every visitor. The endless white sandy beaches stretch 250km along the South West Spanish Coast, from the quaint fishing village of El Mojon to the former Roman fishing village and now lively seaside resort of Aguilas, taking in historic towns along the way.
Costa Calida, meaning warm coast, has a hot Mediterranean climate in the summer months and is blessed with incredibly low levels of rainfall. An array of international and local culinary delights are on offer, whether your tastes are more suited to the fresh fish from surrounding waters or a more cosmopolitan treat you are sure to find something different to enjoy for every night of your stay.
Points of Interest
Despite the low rainfall and desert like landscape inland, the Costa Calida is famous for its golf courses which bring plenty of green to the scenery. Many people claim Murcia as the real Spain, visit its capital (also called Murcia) to experience its gothic and baroque architecture and see the meld between its Muslim and Christian heritage; tapas is also at its best here and is not to be missed. The beaches of Mar Menor are spectacular but if they get a bit crowded, you should head further south for smaller, more Spanish resorts.
Hotels in
There are two excellent hotel choices in the region of Costa Calida. Hotel La Manga Club Príncipe Felipe is set in the heart of La Manga Club Resort and boasts sweeping views of the resort's three golf courses and access to all the facilities on offer. Meanwhile the Las Lomas Apartments sit on a pretty hillside with spectacular panoramic views, tranquil surroundings and the added option of self-catering. Either of these luxury hotels is perfect for golf and tennis enthusiasts and offers all the facilities you could need for an active or relaxing holiday.
