Introduction
The stunning area of Lake Taupo, located in the centre of the North Island, was actually formed by a huge volcanic eruption in 186AD, the effects of which were so large that they could be seen as far as China and Europe. Today, the lake is the hub of many diverse activities, where beautiful landscape views provide a back drop and a relaxed atmosphere pervades. From trout fishing to sky diving and geothermal hikes to kayak expeditions where ancient rock carvings can be seen.
