Oia Holidays
oIA
Introduction
The small village of Oia is built on the steep slope of a volcanic crater, just 12km from Fira. Its whitewashed houses cling to the red and grey cliffs, many in tiny alcoves hewn into the rock face. Oia enjoys fabulous views of its neighbouring volcanic islands, especially as the sun disappears into the horizon. Little restaurants and local tavernas, serving traditional Greek dishes, are scattered among the souvenir shops. Trace Santorini’s nautical history at the maritime museum, housed in an old mansion. A steep stone staircase leads down to the shingle beach at Amoudi, where you’ll find some superb fish tavernas.
