Aghios Nikolaos is an ideal location for a luxury holiday. Considered one of Crete's prettiest resorts, Aghios Nikolaos has been dubbed the St Tropez of the island because of its chic image of fashionable cafés and elegant boutiques. The town has been built around an exquisite blue inner lagoon, resting on the lovely Bay of Mirabello and overlooked by the eastern mountains. By day the harbour is dotted with brightly-coloured fishing boats and by night it reflects the lights from a myriad of lively restaurants. The nightlife is equally varied and enticing, with bars around the harbours and hilly streets. There are a couple of small shingle beaches where watersports are freely available, whilst two and a half kilometres away, you will find a sandy beach at Almiros, a historic harbour town named after its charming Byzantine chapel.
