Introduction
Peaceful Pissouri borders a gentle curve of golden sand and shingle beach. The village itself nestles contentedly in the hillside above the bay. Here you can wander around and find the village church, mingle with the locals in the shops and tranquil tavernas, or relax in age-old Cypriot style. The legendary Birthplace of Aphrodite can be found along the coast to the west. The Goddess of Love is said to have risen from the foam here and it is a popular choice for bathing. Aphrodite's temple can be found inland, near the picturesque village of Kouklia.
